The province of Ciego de Avila, in the eastern portion of the greater one of the Antilles, in addition to the attractive to the leisure to an exuberant nature, unique cultural traditions and a centuries-old history. They all go hand in hand in a real combination capable of satisfying the expectations of the vacationers, many of them attracted by the city of Morón. In effect, the set of the aforementioned city has an existence that has already reached the 471 years - founded in May 1543-, with a source in the hands of families who migrated from Sancti Spiritus, in addition to sailors who sailed along the north coast in search of adventure and fortune.

Sites of incalculable value as the gauge of Júcaro to Morón - defensive work linked to the independence movement of the island - are linked with legends and customs that arrive until our days. The most known of them is, without doubts, the Moron Rooster, become the symbol of this cuban city and reflected in a bronze sculpture of three meters and a weight of 3 tonnes, work of the outstanding Cuban plastic Artist Rita Longa at the beginning of the decade of the 80.

In the work of the monument the sculptress counted with the artistic collaboration of Armando Alonso, responsible for the execution of the works of a first gallo in the years 50. One of the versions is linked to the foundation of the city on an elevation of little height, which coincides with the geographical definition of "Moron", which means small mound of earth. Another, goes back to the Spanish town of Moron de la Frontera, in Seville, where precisely begins to develop the history of the world famous bird.

In the constructions of the city the predominant style is eclectic, where highlights are dwellings with sockets decorated with glazed tiles and tiles, in addition to the railings of wood and iron grilles with geometric figures. Moron account also with a Catholic church, the oldest constructive relic that is still standing and is the only one in the country that has a crenellated tower and embrasures in its walls. It is worth mentioning that the building was used as a military barracks in the independence wars, in the so-called war of the Chambelona and in the last elections of national liberation.
