Hotel Barcelona, opened in 2012, is located in San Juan de los Remedios, one of the oldest towns in Cuba, founded in 1578 and known as the cradle of Parrandas, probably the largest and oldest traditional Cuban party. Its long history is particularly evident in the City Center (declared a National Historic Landmark in 1980), where the seventeenth-century Spanish architecture can still be found almost intact.
The Hotel is located in front of Plaza Mayor, the only one in Cuba where they settle two churches, one of which, the Parish of San Juan Bautista, is the main attraction of the city, with its thirteen altars decorated with gold.
