              Description
The Santa Isabel Hotel, located at Plaza de Armas (Arms Square), is at walking distance from the site where the village of San Cristóbal de La Habana, currently Cuban capital, was founded. The hotel is housed in the former mansion of the Count of Jaruco and later the Count of Santovenia, who transformed the building into a hotel in 1867 at the initiative of Luis Lay, who was born in New Orleans, in the United States.
The three-story building is decorated with artworks by prominent Cuban artists, as well as furniture and ornaments that recreate the noble atmosphere of the 19th century.
